How do I go about setting up a shed in my backyard to live in?

I am only wanting to put my bed, a desk, TV and a few drawers in there as I will still have access to everything in my house. I am looking to do this as cheap as possible but am unaware whether it is legal for me to live in a shed.

Problems:
- cost
- weather proof
- electricity

Hi get your parent’s to do it they will glad to get you outside the house.The main thing is to get right is the eclectics, you need circuit breakers and earth protection, The insulation boards need to be fitted on all surface including the floor ,also make sure that there is no small gaps under the door even a 1/2"gap is large enough for mice and spiders to get in , also make sure there is a air vent at high level to stop condensation forming, don’t forget the panic alarm system.

    I don’t think its illegal but then again I’m not sure and not sure how old you are. But as far as moving in your own shed that depends on how clean you wanna live, how sturdy the shed is, and power you can just run an extention cord from your house to the shed for light. I would just clean the shed really good ccaulkaround the windows so no drafts or bugs can get in, make sure you have a good lock on the door. And if you smoke and the shed is small I would make sure I didn’t have any loose papers or anything that can catch on fire. A fire eextinguisherwould be good just in case. That’sabout it as long as you are going in the house to shower or bath and use the bathroom and to eat. I guess it would be just like going camping…

    The cost will vary greatly depending on the level of luxury you want inside. If you want a full bathroom as opposed to just a bucket in the corner, it will cost more. And in the winter time a little heat would be nice too.

    Start with one of those storage buildings. Wiring and insulation are easy to add to these. Some come with floors. Some do not. A simple concrete slab will do if none comes with it. Total cost depending on size should be less than $2,500.
