Cheap and easy way to build accomodation?

My Partner, 2 children and I are currently living with my In-laws. We are thinking about building some accommodation on their property (quakers barn, live-able shed etc) while we save for our own home. It will be a studio type dwelling and therefore does not need some of the approval processes required when building a house Does anyone have cheap and easy ideas?
